Over 3,000 graduate students are enrolled at the University; 140 are in the basic science departments of the School of Medicine. There is a student association which plans social activities throughout the year and works with the faculty to improve the educational programs. First year students are provided with office space and word processors in a special room set aside for them in the departmental library.
